Religious Services

The Seattle Seafarers Center serves all seafarers regardless of religion. We are also committed to caring for the spiritual wellbeing of crew and helping them access religious services and sacraments while at sea. Our Center is affiliated with the local Catholic, Episcopal, and Lutheran (ELCA) church, as well as The Mission to Seafarers (Flying Angel) and Stella Maris International.

If you would like to visit a place of worship while your ship is berthed in Seattle, our ship visitors would be happy to transport you - please send us a text/WhatsApp message at +1 206 455 3624 or email seattlechaplain@gmail.com

Several of our ship visitors are lay or ordained chaplains, and are available to talk with you during ship visits or over the phone. Please reach out if you would like to speak with a chaplain.

We also have a small multifaith chapel at our Seafarers Center which you are welcome to use for prayer.

Christian / Catholic Services:

  • Upon request, we can bring a priest or deacon onboard your ship to facilitate religious services such as Mass, Communion service, ship blessings, or memorial services.

  • We have available rosaries, prayer books, and Bibles in various languages at our Seafarers Center and can bring these to your ship as well.

  • Please see below for more information about local church services.

Buddhist Services:

  • We have connections with a local chapter of SGI-USA (Nichiren Buddhism). Upon request, practicing American Lay Buddhists of Mahayana Nichiren Buddhism are available to chant/pray with you on your ship and offer guidance based on the GOSHO (The Writings of Nichiren Diashonin). They can also help with a small memorial service or a ship’s blessing.

Other Religions:

  • We are happy to transport you to a local place of worship, or to connect you with religious leaders of your own faith.
