Donations

Donations to the Seattle Seafarers Center support the Center’s vision of elevating the happiness, spirituality and dignity of seafarers who visit major ports in Puget Sound. Welcoming and caring are at the heart of the Center’s mission. Often, advocates from the Center are the only ones who offer hospitality to these “invisible” essential workers. Your donation makes this vital ministry possible!

Your Impact

Your donation makes it possible to:

  • Visit more than 450 crews annually with a team of staff, interns, volunteers and pastoral partners.

  • Offer spiritual care to thousands of seafarers each year, including offering onboard Eucharist services, ship blessings, and funeral services for those who have died at sea.

  • Transport seafarers when they have shore leave. (The Center can transport up to 10,000 seafarers during a normal    “pandemic-free” year.)

  • Provide up to 2,500 crew care packages (aka, ditty bags) throughout the year.

  • Connect seafarers with medical care, including dispensing COVID vaccines to more than 8,000 seafarers since the start of      the pandemic.

  • Provide low cost SIM cards, enabling up to 12,000 seafarers a year to reach loved ones while in port or at anchor in local waters.

  • Deliver packages to seafarers or when necessary, offer limited personal shopping to ensure that crews have the basic necessities they would normally purchase during shore leave.

  • Advise and collaborate with crew, agents, and the International Transport Workers’ Federation in emergency situations.

  • Operate a hospitality center for seafarers where they can relax, worship, and access Wi-Fi in a safe environment.

  • Cover the basic operating costs necessary to maintain the Center, including salaries, rent, and other expenses.

All this conveys the love, concern, and compassion our organization and the community feel for seafarers.

Thank you for making this possible!

We are very grateful for your support!
