On January 27th, 2020, the Seattle Service Corps was able to visit the Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies (MITAGS) thanks to the partnership between the corps and the Seattle Mission to Seafarers.

Mission board member Christine Klimkowski, a master mariner who works at MITAGS, talked to the corps members about working in the seafaring industry, as well as the lengthy process of becoming a pilot. The corps members were able to try out the training simulators at MITAGS, driving huge container ships and tiny tugboats in ports like Hawai’i, Alabama, Norway, and here in Seattle. The corps and the Mission are very grateful to Christine and MITAGS for this fascinating and fun experience!
