Jack Block

Updated: Nov 18, 2020

The Seattle Seafarers Center mourns the passing this week of well known West Seattleite JACK BLOCK, retired longshoreman who was the longest serving person on the Port of Seattle Commission (1974-2001) and also served as its Commissioner.

Jack was a good friend to the Center and an ardent supporter of its mission to assist seafarers in port. Jack's friendly smile and energy in support of seafarers will be sorely missed.   Our condolences to the Block Family.

Jack was a faithful and powerful presence on the Board of the Catholic Seamen's Club, and his support for the merger of the Club with The Mission to Seafarers in 2012 was essential to its success.
