Ben Bailey is a CHAMPION for seafarers!

And he’s the keynote speaker for our upcoming get-together and fundraiser on July 16th, from 3 – 6 pm at the Elliott Bay Marina. Join us and be inspired by his stories from a career in maritime welfare.

With 15 years in the maritime welfare sector, Ben Bailey currently serves as the Director of Advocacy & Regional Engagement for The Mission to Seafarers – the Anglican charity for mariners and their families. Founded in 1836 and based in London, his organization serves seafarers in over 200 ports in 50 countries around the world. He and his team work with the shipping industry, governments and civil society to create effective crew welfare and wellbeing services.

Crossing the globe, Bailey has established facilities at ports in Nigeria, Argentina, Turkey and Panama and is currently helping establish a center in Long Beach, California.

This event is also a celebration of Seattle Seafarers Center’s amazing work during the Covid pandemic. Our staff and volunteers welcomed, vaccinated, and cared for over 6,000 seafarers, homesick and isolated because of cancelled shore leave.

We hope you’ll join us on the waterfront for an afternoon with friends, beverages and light appetizers.
